Artist: Louis Saurel is a multi-talented Haitian painter who currently resides in the neighborhoods of Bourdon and Musseau, on the outskirts of Pétion-Ville. Now in his forties, Saurel has been immersed in art since childhood, growing up in a family of artists. Alongside his brother, who is also a painter, he discovered his passion for art at the age of twelve. After school at the Lycée, Saurel would visit the workshop of the renowned artist Jean René Jérôme, where he received mentorship and guidance that helped shape his artistic path. For Saurel, painting was never a necessity but a true calling.

Description:
Bitasyon flows with the quiet rhythm of rural Haiti — a moment suspended between stillness and movement. Two modest homes rest on opposite banks, connected by the invisible bond of water, memory, and daily life.Saurel’s brush captures more than landscape; he captures intimacy — the nearness of community, the breath of morning light across the hills, and the tender hum of nature in conversation with human presence. The gentle river becomes both mirror and messenger, carrying fragments of home downstream into eternity.
